RELICS OF THE GODS

MISC:

WEDGES:

Split wedge rocks are boulders which have been split and a gap is held open often by inserting smaller rocks into the crack.  This spacing technique is also used to seperate different stones.

In regions of megalithic construction wedgies can be very common.  Big too.

IRELAND / NORTHEAST USA /TURKEY:

Peter Waksman over at rockpiles.blogspot borrowed this photo from Rebecca Latson Photography and I borrowed it from him. There is a cool wedge on the hill.  This blog from Peter with photos was my introduction to split wedge rocks.  Third and fourth photos are from Hittite Monuments.

COLORADO:

In the last photo the smaller wedge to the right is huge.  The wedge on the left in the last photo is an absolute monster well over a 100 tons. The gap may even be tall enough for a human to stand upright and walk around.
