SUTTER BUTTES CAIRNS:
The Sutter Buttes is private property and the only way for the public to hike in the Buttes is through the Middle Mountain Foundation. Some of the photos here came from these hikes. Aerial photos are thanks to Rex and his Supercub.
Cairns exist throughout the Sutter Buttes. Although access is restricted in the Buttes there are a few cairns which can be photographed off Pass Road using the roadside entrances to natural gas drilling pads. The problem is that the cairns are at least a mile away from the nearest view point. The bulk of the photos and all of the time lapse were taken from Pass Road.
The most photographed cairns in the Buttes are Dragon Rocks, South Buttes and Twin Peaks
